Karma Lhatrul Dorjee Rinpoche

Karma Lhatrul Dorjee Rinpoche

Karma Lhatrul Dorjee Rinpoche is a reincarnated Tibetan master from Bhutan, a contemporary yogi, an accomplished filmmaker, an adventurous traveler, an inspiration to many, and a person who desires to connect with others around the world.

Karma Rinpoche began his journey of spiritual enlightenment at the age of three. As a child, he remembered his past life as a Tibetan teacher, and his parents brought him to a monastery in northeastern India to meet his teacher, His Holiness Tertön Kunzang Dechen Lingpa Rinpoche. Tertön immediately recognized Karma Rinpoche as a reincarnation ("tulku") and adopted him as his heart son. He taught him the essence of the Dzogchen teachings for many years, and eventually appointed him one of the holders of his lineage.

Karma Rinpoche is no ordinary lama. His students affectionately call him "the crazy monk," largely due to his non-dualistic lifestyle and unconventional outlook on life. He is quite straightforward, funny, very modern, and, one might say, somewhat controversial. He enjoys living life to the fullest, experiencing it fully, and teaching others by his example in everyday life. A very steadfast and dedicated Dharma practitioner, he is also a recognized and renowned director, having won numerous awards at the Bhutan Film Festival for his films "Tshorwa," "The Row," and "The Wind of Karma," and is rightfully considered one of the best directors in the Bhutanese film industry.
